MODULE 5 : DEEP TECH

This module provides a structured introduction to the concept of deep tech, including its key areas, and its role in driving innovation for the green transition.  
Section 1 The concept of Deep Tech
Although the concept may seem ambiguous, two main approaches can be applied for defining deep tech: deep tech as a group of technologies and deep tech as an innovation project.

Section 2 Main deep tech areas
This section compiles the main deep tech areas following the approach applied in the context of the Deep Tech Talent Initiative, funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

Section 3 Case Studies
This section consists of two real-world case studies that demonstrate how deep tech solutions contribute to the green transition. Through these case studies, students will dive into the practical application of digital twins, AI, robotics and circular production models.

Section 4. Challenge-based exercise: sustainable textile waste management solution
The module concludes with a challenge-based exercise on sustainable textile waste management, in the context of which the students will gain insight into design thinking and the circular canvas.
